Prefer quiet with a small-town feeling? Choose Potrero Hill, where the pace is a bit more laid back than the rest of San Francisco. The population is around 14,000, which is much less than some parts of the city.
 

Once an area known for industrialization, Potrero Hill has now become known for its great weather and relaxed lifestyle. Commercial strips do line a couple of streets here, but nighttime is mostly quiet and subdued. Potrero Hill is home to the true “crookedest street” in San Francisco, Vermont Street.
 

Meet locals at Farley’s for coffee, stop at Goat Hill Pizza for lunch, visit Christopher’s Books if you’re a reader, and play a round of golf at Mission Bay Golf Center in the evening. Recreation centers and parks are easily accessible.
